Why so early?
In Nepal, WHO estimates for 2019 show untreated decay in 51.2% of milk teeth in children aged 1–9 (WHO Nepal oral health profile, 2022). Decayed milk teeth can cause pain and infection and affect the permanent teeth growing underneath.
What happens at the first visit?
We keep children's visits short, gentle and explained in simple words. We check for decay, advise parents on brushing and diet, and treat problems early. If your child is scared, tell us beforehand: we start with a simple look-and-count visit so your child gets comfortable first.
Tips for parents
- Brush twice daily with a smear of fluoride toothpaste for under-3s and a pea-sized amount from 3 years
- Limit sugary snacks and drinks between meals
- Don't put a baby to sleep with a bottle of milk or juice
