Veneers in Butwal

Medically reviewed by Dr. Rekha Pandey, BDS

Short answer

Veneers are thin layers of tooth-coloured material bonded to the front of teeth to cover chips, gaps, stains or uneven shapes. Composite veneers are built directly on the tooth, usually in one visit. Porcelain veneers are made in a lab and last longer, but need a thin layer of enamel removed, which is not reversible. We show you the expected result before starting.

Composite vs porcelain

TypeVisitsEnamel removedTypical lifespan
Composite1Little or noneSeveral years, can be repaired
Porcelain / ceramic2+Thin layer (irreversible)Longer than composite

Good to know

Whitening should be done before veneers, because veneers don't change colour.

Frequently asked questions

Are veneers bad for your teeth?

Not when the case is chosen carefully. Porcelain veneers involve removing some enamel, so we only recommend them when simpler options won't give the result you want.
