Toothache or dental emergency in Butwal: what to do now

Medically reviewed by Dr. Rekha Pandey, BDS

Short answer

For a toothache, rinse with warm salt water, take an over-the-counter painkiller as directed on the pack, and message us on WhatsApp at +977 974-3679953. We try to see pain cases the same day during opening hours (every day, 8 AM–6 PM). Go to a hospital emergency department straight away if swelling spreads towards your eye or neck, or if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing or a high fever.

Right now

  • Toothache: warm salt-water rinse, painkiller as per the label, avoid very hot, cold or sweet food. Don't put tablets, tobacco or alcohol on the gum.
  • Swelling: cold compress outside the cheek, 10 minutes on, 10 off. Don't apply heat.
  • Broken tooth: keep any pieces, rinse your mouth, come in the same day.
  • Knocked-out adult tooth: hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse briefly if dirty, try to put it back in the socket, or keep it in milk, and come immediately; the first hour matters most. Don't replant baby teeth.
  • Bleeding after extraction: bite firmly on clean gauze for 30 minutes. Contact us if it doesn't stop.

Outside opening hours

Message us on WhatsApp and we'll reply when the clinic opens. For severe swelling, breathing difficulty or heavy bleeding, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
