Gum disease treatment in Butwal: bleeding gums, swelling and loose teeth

Medically reviewed by Dr. Rekha Pandey, BDS (NMC 38136) · Last updated: 24 Oct 2026

Short answer

Gum disease is an infection of the gums caused mainly by plaque and tartar, and made worse by tobacco. Early gum disease (gingivitis) causes bleeding and swelling and is reversible with professional cleaning and good brushing. Advanced gum disease (periodontitis) damages the bone holding teeth and can make teeth loose. It is very common in Nepal and is one of the main reasons adults lose teeth.

Deep cleaning (root planing) costs NPR 1,000 per tooth, and full gum disease treatment costs NPR 5,000, done by Dr. Rekha Pandey (BDS).

Frequently asked questions

Is bleeding when I brush normal?

No. It is a common early sign of gum inflammation and should be checked, but it is usually reversible.

Can loose teeth become firm again?

If gum disease is treated early, teeth may stabilise. Advanced bone loss cannot be fully reversed, which is why early treatment matters.
