Walk-ins are seen when a chair is free. ### Is Kashyap Dental & Aesthetics the same as Kashyap Dental Clinic in India? No. Kashyap Dental & Aesthetics is a dental clinic in Butwal, Nepal, on Tilottama Path (Hospital Line) near Gastrocare. It is led by Dr. Rekha Pandey (BDS, NMC 38136) and orthodontist Dr. Madhav Pandey (MDS, NMC 15670). Our only website is kashyapdental.com.np and our phone and WhatsApp number is +977 974-3679953. We are not connected to Kashyap Dental Clinic in India or kashyapdentalclinic.com. ### What should I bring to my first visit? A list of medicines you take, any previous dental X-rays or reports, and your questions. ### What are your opening hours? Every day, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, including Saturdays. ### Do I need to go elsewhere for X-rays? No. We take digital dental X-rays and full-mouth OPG X-rays in the clinic. ### Do you accept walk-ins? Yes, when a chair is free. Booking on WhatsApp avoids waiting. ### Do you treat patients from Bhairahawa, Palpa and nearby? Yes. Many of our patients come from across Rupandehi and Palpa. ## Check-ups & cleaning ### How often should I get a dental check-up? Most people should see a dentist every 6 months; your dentist may suggest a different interval based on your gum health and decay risk. Regular check-ups catch problems while they are small and cheap to fix. ### Do bleeding gums when I brush mean something is wrong? Bleeding gums are usually a sign of gum inflammation (gingivitis), often caused by plaque build-up. It is common and usually reversible with professional cleaning and better daily brushing, but it should be checked. ### Does scaling damage teeth? No. Scaling removes hardened plaque (tartar) from the tooth surface. Teeth can feel slightly sensitive for a few days afterwards. ## Pain & emergencies ### I have a severe toothache. What should I do? Message or call us on +977 974-3679953 and we'll fit you in as soon as possible. Go to a hospital emergency department if you have facial swelling spreading to the eye or neck, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a high fever. ### Is root canal treatment painful? The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. It usually relieves the toothache that brought you in. ### Is root canal better than extraction? Keeping your natural tooth is usually better for chewing and for the neighbouring teeth. Extraction may be needed if the tooth cannot be saved. ### How long does a root-canal-treated tooth last? With a good restoration and oral hygiene, it can last many years. ### How long does recovery take? Most people feel better within 3–5 days. Complex wisdom tooth removals can take longer. ### Will I be awake? Yes. Procedures are done under local anaesthesia, so the area is numb. ## Braces & aligners ### Do you offer braces and clear aligners in Butwal? Yes. Our orthodontist, Dr. Madhav Pandey (MDS), plans and treats braces and clear aligner cases for children and adults. ### What is the right age for braces? Many children benefit from an orthodontic check around age 7–8, and treatment often starts between 10 and 14. Adults can have braces at any age if their teeth and gums are healthy. ### Do braces hurt? Teeth usually feel sore for a few days after fitting and after adjustments. Over-the-counter pain relief and soft food help. ### Do I need a specialist orthodontist? Orthodontists complete specialist training (MDS) in tooth and jaw alignment. At Kashyap Dental & Aesthetics, every braces and aligner case is planned by our MDS orthodontist. ### Do I need a retainer after braces? Yes. Teeth tend to drift back, so a retainer is worn after treatment as advised by your orthodontist. ### Can I eat with aligners? You remove aligners to eat and drink anything except plain water, then brush before putting them back. ### Are aligners painful? You may feel pressure for a day or two with each new set; this is normal. ### Am I a candidate? An orthodontic consultation with photos and scans or X-rays is needed to decide. ### Can adults get braces? Yes, at any age if teeth and gums are healthy. ## Cosmetic ### Will my smile look fake? The aim is a natural result that suits your face. We match shade and shape to your other teeth and agree on the plan with you before starting. ### How long does a smile makeover take? It depends on the treatments. Whitening or bonding can be done in one or two visits; aligners take months. ### Is teeth whitening safe? When done or supervised by a dentist with appropriate products, whitening is considered safe. Temporary sensitivity is the most common side effect. ### How long does whitening last? Typically from several months to a few years, depending on diet, smoking and oral hygiene. ### Can I whiten at home? Over-the-counter products are weaker and uneven. Ask us before using any product, especially if you have sensitive teeth or fillings on front teeth. ### Are veneers bad for your teeth? Not when the case is chosen carefully. Porcelain veneers involve removing some enamel, so we only recommend them when simpler options won't give the result you want. ### Does whitening cause sensitivity? It can cause temporary sensitivity, which usually settles within days. ## Children ### Do you treat children? Yes. We see children from their first tooth onward, with short, gentle visits designed to keep them comfortable. ### Do milk teeth need treatment if they will fall out anyway? Yes. Decayed milk teeth can cause pain and infection and affect the permanent teeth growing underneath. ### My child is scared. What should I do? Tell us beforehand. We start with a simple look-and-count visit so your child gets comfortable first. ## Gums, sensitivity & mouth screening ### Is bleeding when I brush normal? No. It is a common early sign of gum inflammation and should be checked, but it is usually reversible. ### Can loose teeth become firm again? If gum disease is treated early, teeth may stabilise. Advanced bone loss cannot be fully reversed, which is why early treatment matters. ### Can sensitivity mean something serious? Sometimes. Pain that lingers, wakes you at night or is triggered by biting can signal decay or nerve problems and needs examination. ### Does screening hurt? No. It is a visual and touch examination with no needles or cutting. ### If I've used gutkha for years, is it too late? No. Many changes improve after quitting, and early detection greatly improves outcomes. ### Is oral submucous fibrosis cancer? No, but it is a potentially malignant condition, which means it can develop into cancer in some people. It needs regular monitoring. ## Crowns, implants & dentures ### Is getting an implant painful? It is done under local anaesthesia. Most people have mild soreness for a few days, similar to an extraction. ### How long do implants last? Back teeth usually do, because they become more brittle after treatment. Your dentist will advise. ### How long does a crown last? Many years with good care.
